Calgary: Giordano

San Jose: Thornton
Anaheim: Getzlaf
Edmonton: McDavid
Arizona: Hjalmarsson
Vegas: Marchessault
Vancouver: Luongo...still on books (ok, I guess if I must take one Edler)
I don't like Brent Burns, but that's more because of all the love he gets, which I don't agree with. He's very good at creating offense for his team, but he defends on par with Jack Johnson. Again, it's nothing against Burns himself, more about people who think he's a great DEFENSEman because he produces a lot of offense.
Takings bets on RW's favorite Philly player. Both N/A and Radko Gudas are excluded. - jmatchett383
As soon as a player puts on the orange and black they become almost impossible to like. Even with some past Flyers who ended up playing for the Pens like Tocchet and Fedetenko there is a "warming up" period among Pens fans.
However, if we were to include former players I would say Bryz. How can anyone not like him .

Out of curiosity, why is this? I mean, from the Flyers side, you guys were never a rival of our until 2005. Sure we had some playoff wars and we never liked Jagr, but we never had the same level of hatred for the Pens/Pens players throughout the 80s/90s/early 00s that you guys always seemed to have for the Flyers.
Was it the 20-consecutive seasons of never winning once in Philly? Little brother syndrome? I'm really curious where the 1-sided hate came from.
Penguins/Flyers stuff at 9:30 and 37 minutes explains a little about how not winning at the Spectrum, and finally beating the likes of Kerr and Hextall, was a big step for the Penguins.
"it was one more hurdle cleared by the kid from Ville-Émard, who was clearly on a mission."
The Penguins and their fans were jealous of Philly's string of excellence from the 70's to the 80's. It was a one-sided rilvalry like the Penguins/BJ's, or the Steelers/Browns. The Browns can go 1-15 and still succeed if they beat the Steelers, while I wouldn't consider the Browns rivals since they left Cleveland.
I disagree. While I have my issues with how analytics are used and viewed at times, I think they're a very useful tool in evaluating a player. They're not (to me) the only way to measure a player, but they shouldn't be minimized, either. - jmatchett383
Ok, so give me an example of a players analytics & try & tell me what that player will do next season - any player.
I'll ask you based on Tavares analytics, what is he going to do in Toronto? Will Babcock use him for offence & give him predominantly oz starts, or will he be used to try & be a 2 way player that defends better? Tavares should be easy except that he's never played with the players in Toronto so there is no data on his play there. But if analytics can be used to evaluate, that shouldn't matter should it?
